London Town @ Publika Solaris (The reality)

Saw this new deal from Groupon and the picture illustration is really interesting. Beautifully plated but the reality and truth is what we get here from my past visit in May, everything on the plate is burnt - the chicken meat especially is the most disgusting part, the lamb meat, the ham and where about is the seafood??

Finally, saw this restaurant already close down

Oiso Korean Traditional Cuisine @ Menara Hap Seng Kuala Lumpur

Tuesday, June 10, 2014 0 Comments A+ a-

We decided to try this new Korean food in Menara Hap Seng. Oiso Korean Restaurant have another outlet in Bangsar South and i have tried it once before. The food is good with big serving and they have set lunch to choose that comes with three fixed and refillable side dish (kimchi, spinach and anchovies). I ordered the Bulgogi chicken (RM 18.90) that served on the sizzling plate and keeps warm with the sweet soy sauce marinade chicken meat.  The chicken meat is succulent and have a unique flavour. This portion can be shared among two person.

Enjoyable set lunch with my colleagues and we can share all these together. Reasonable price with nice ambiance to dine in.

Chicken Bibimbap (RM 16.90), Delicious hot stone bowl rice served with various  vegetables such as lettuce, seaweed, carrot and beansprouts with chicken meat and a nicely done fried egg. You can choose to mixed these with sweet chili sauce. Flavourful and satisfying meal.

*Advisable to come early during lunch hour (weekdays), the place is usually crowded and the limited staff coming to your request. We have to call few times even for the bill. They should improve on that and to manage the long queue.

KopiClub @ Sungai Wang Kuala Lumpur

Just discover another outlet opened in Sungai Wang Plaza for KopiClub. This place is my all time favourite and the food here is superb!. It was actually introduced by my Manager and he always bring us along to dine in here during lunch hour. The first visit was at Low Yat Plaza outlet, usually very crowded and the signature food here are Chicken Chop, Nasi Lemak Ayam, Nasi Ayam Berempah, Mee Goreng and lots more..Kopiclub is located at Lower Ground Floor just beside KFC.

Price is slightly expensive and acceptable portion for set lunch.

Array of local drinks which are quite familiar just like those in Kopitiam. Cham drinks - I prefer the most and the taste is really good. Not too sweet and the mixture just blends well.

Nasi Goreng Ayam Berempah - One of the best selling item in Kopiclub. Fragrant fried rice and the chicken is fried to perfection with spices.

Nasi Ayam Goreng Panas

Mee Goreng - Thumbs up for this mee goreng. Purely Malaysian style and best to squeeze with the lime juice. Tantalizing meal for my lunch.

Yee Wen Thai Restaurant @ Kepong

Tuesday, June 10, 2014 0 Comments A+ a-

My colleague told me that there is one Thai restaurant that i must try at Kepong area and he guide me there and remind me few times to order some of their specialties. He said that after you have try this place you will never ever want to go other Thai restaurant. I bring my parents along with my two naughty kids venture this new eatery place called Yee Wen Thai Restaurant at Kepong (near to Menjalara) . This place is here for almost 6 years as i saw there is a foot print stated as 2008. The restaurant hidden signboard is just like the above pictures and hardly seen. You just need to observe the Restoran Ong Kee which is just beside Yee Wen . We need to go up a few steps as there is a small staircase and need to come here early for dinner to avoid the crowd. I heard this place is owned by a Thai Couples and the owner can speak very well Cantonese language. He will communicate Thai language with his staff and they also can speak in Mandarin. The restaurant decoration is not impressive, simple set up but i find it very authentic and special place to be with Thai music.

Authentic thai food menu with so many choices. We settle down and ordered 5 dishes. This is the  Belacan paku pakis (RM9). Crunchy vege garnished with chili padi and lots of garlic+onions.

White Seafood Tom Yam Soup RM 20- Aromatic and savoury tom yam soup. Mixture of fresh prawns, fish, chicken meat, and squids. We can have two small bowls each for the four of us from this pot. The broth is really awesome and the tom yam taste is strong and pleasantly spicy. My mouth was a little bit numb after having this tom yam and the lemon fish..Spicy and sourness of these two dishes .. Really appetizing and i need more rice please. Simply irresistible!

Steamed Lemon Red Snapper (RM 42). Here the price of the fish is quite consistent and reasonable. The owner said "Don't worry" We charge very cheap here. We are worried because there is no price in their menu. He seems to be honest and telling us just go ahead and order. The fish was fresh and with lots of garlic, spicy and sour gravy added with lemon sauce. Delicious!!

One of their signature food - The fried squid (RM 20). Extremely crispy chewy squid when i have my first bite! This is small portion. Can you believe that? I was still thinking they are giving me the medium size because all the food served here is really large portion!

Pandan Chicken RM 18 - Fragrant and succulent chicken meat. Each portion of the chicken inside is really big and even my mum just finished half of it. the rest we just take away for my sisters.  My dad commented that this pandan chicken tastes really good and usually outside other Thai restaurant they charge this dish quite expensive.

Another section of the dining area.

Our total bill is RM 120.20 for 5 dishes+ rice+chinese tea.It is really worth it for the quality of the origin Thai food here and my dad nod his head saying this place is great and he is going to come over with his friends too. Truly satisfied with the food here with reasonable price.. Worth coming for next visit and agree with my colleague that the Thai food here is really damn good.

Groupon Limited Purchase

Tuesday, June 10, 2014 0 Comments A+ a-

Recently, i just noticed Groupon offering only limited purchase for each person. For example the chatime deal, one person only can click one vouchers and same goes to the salad atelier. So if you need to purchase more perhaps you can create more accounts or using a different IP Address. Also in their website always appear the word Limited time remaining. Actually there is still purchase going on so what is the word Limited means here? Maybe just to make customers think that this deal is very limited..Need to click to purchase it as soon as possible before it sold out or increase the price later on? Another new tactic to get more vouchers sold

We are looking forward for another round of nyonya cuisines and still our best choice is to dine in at Lima Blas Restaurant at Jalan Mesui. Admiring the whole deco each time we visit this place. We ordered the simple menu for the 6 of us with egg plant with sambal, ayam pongteh, egg, asam fish and not to be missed out..the chilled ABC! Here i can find authentic taste of the ayam pongteh- sweet savoury broth with tender chicken meat..just nice to pair it with a bowl of rice.

Highly recommended for those spicy lovers..asam fish..fresh and aromatic!!

Brinjal with belacan sambal..this is a must try dish..traditional nyonya style of stir fry brinjal..

Tuesday, June 03, 2014 0 Comments A+ a-

It's raining cats and dogs..we are craving for Bak Kut Teh for our lunch...looking around which is the nearest place in KL city centre we can think of this place.. Yu Yi Bak Kut Teh..My dad told me before the food here is pretty good and one of my colleague also try it before during the Open Rice Makan Ventures.. We give it a try and it was a pleasant dining experience with the friendly bos so attentive to our request and introduced some of their specialities dishes here..we quickly ordered the Yau Cha Kueh..My lady colleague is too hungry while waiting for the gentleman to get the parking..( the parking space is abit challenging here parking along the roadside and quite limited space).

Enjoying the taufu while waiting for the bak kut teh..The dining area is air conditioning and comfortable. too

Yau Mak - Large portion just nice for 6 of us..

My all time favourite..Pork stomach pepper soup..The pepper is not too overpowering the taste and just blends well. I love to have the pork stomach with a dip of the soy sauce..

We ordered a big pot of the Bak Kut Teh with pork bone, 3 layer pork, intestine, pork stomach, pork belly,  ribs, mushrooms, vegetables and etc..Hot steaming pot with thick flavour of the bak kut teh..Simply irrestible..the soups is very delicious with intense herbal flavour and we request to add on more soup ( no charges).

Johnny Rockets Malaysia @ Avenue K

Tuesday, June 03, 2014 2 Comments A+ a-

I have planned this birthday celebration for my girl at Johnny Rockets Malaysia at Avenue K intention to bring them to dance along and enjoy the western food here. I never visit this place before so it is going to be our first dining experience as well. I heard this place is just newly opened and they have great performance from the staff..they will dance together and we can have special request for birthday as well. I called up to make my reservation and request for YMCA song and the lady staff agree to my request.

We reached quite early and lucky enough it was not raining on that day.The carpark in Avenue K is quite limited. Johnny Rocket is located at Ground Floor just beside the Library. The staff here is very friendly, they greet us with smiles and i saw their happy faces working here enjoying their routines..i love the whole deco in this place..filled up with the 70' s emotions and entertain by the oldies songs..which some i never heard of..i think my dad in law knows it very well.

The dining place is very comfortable with the straw dispenser is hygiene enough to be wrap each and every pieces of it..now my girls starts to play with it..we ordered the chicken burger original and  Jalapeno Spicy Dog!..of course need to topped up with the fries and onion rings..Huge onion rings ..crispy and fresh

Smiley faces and my girl screw it ..she quickly grab this while i am taking the pictures..she just love to play with the tomato sauce..

Chicken burger is tenderly meaty and juicy with the pickles and mayonnaise condiments. Served with coleslaw and onion rings.

Juicy spicy hotdogs..another nice option for me and hubby..awesome!

The mini hotdogs menu for my girl..she don't like the bread..just finished off all the mini hotdogs..the presentation of this food should be improved..look at the burnt side of the bread..not really appetizing rite..

Smiley Cappucino..yummy yummy

The staff is dancing every 30 minutes..I like  the lovely quote from Johnny Rockets, they using the sauces to make this birthday wish for my girl and singing along the birthday song. My girl is very shy and look away and end up me and hubby have to blow up the candles..haha..she never experience the birthday celebration singing songs with strangers..so she kinda shy and pretending to be different tonight.

Actually i am quite disappointed with their promise to dance the YMCA Song for my girl which i have already requested since two weeks earlier with sms reminder one day before..But end up they dance another song which i am not familiar with either..Actually i also hope they can dance Gangnam Style Song or Gentleman..both are my two girls favourite songs..and of course if they can have the YMCA Song (Despicable Me version) is my wish..After all my mum in law enjoy the dance moves and she records the video in her own Ipad..she is more advance now with the gadget in hand all the time :)

My little kids enjoy tonights outing as well as i do..Nites..

Teppanyaki @ Sungai Wang Plaza

Tuesday, June 03, 2014 0 Comments A+ a-

I bought this deal RM20 Cash Voucher for Japanese Cuisine at Teppanyaki for RM12 from Groupon early of April and i only have the time to redeem it last week. I decided to redeem it on 23 May since it is going to expire on 29 May. As i walk through the Sungai Wang Shopping Mall level 2 near to the BB Plaza, i could not find the Teppanyaki after i make two circle around this level. I called my hubby to check it with the information counter and at the same time i just walk in to one of the salon to ask the lady " Where is the Teppanyaki??" She said it is under renovation..Sigh..!!!

Groupon never informed the customers that this outlet is having renovation and I am so upset with this. I have not redeem my voucher and they close down for renovation  upgrading the restaurant. At least the merchant or Groupon should have inform us. Disappointed!! and i need to go back to write email to Groupon to get my full refund.. After waited for 4 days only they replied me and i need to do some follow up calls.. wasting of time!
