During the Chinese New Year weekend, my cousin sister have choose this place - Village Chicken @ SS2 for our lunch gathering. It was packed and crowded. The restaurant have limited seats, but are quite comfortable with their clean and air conditioning environment. Service is fast and attentive. We started off with the yee sang and here comes the main dish - Soft Fried yam ring with mix vegetables

The siganture dish- I have forgotten the name of this dish. It was perfectly done especially on the food presentation itself.

Chinese dish -  lotus with celery

The most wanted - Steamed Kampung Chicken. Tasted really damn good.  The chicken meat is soft and tender. I took the sauce and mix it well with my rice. So delicious

Juicy and huge shrimp in sweet and sour sauce.

Sambal belacan kangkung

Succulen chicken meat

Thick red bean desserts to end our meal. Another round of CNY gathering - It's all about food, family and relatives get in touch with each others and the kids to have fun being together.

This is my third visit. I enjoy their food so much. My colleagues suggested to come here to try their Yee Sang. The Yee Sang is prepared upon ordering, so be patience to wait for that surprise servings. Huge serving for 8 people and the price is RM 68. Each side of the vegetables is perfectly slice into standard sizes and so crunchy! Every bite is so juicy and delicious. The salmon and tuna is fresh, dressed with their special sauce that is tantalizing and complements perfectly with the fresh ingredients used to fully bring out the flavour of the dish. I will strongly recommend this as the best Yee Sang and it taste so darn good!

Fun to see this lovely photo captured by my colleagues, Putting all together in this masterpiece giving me a sweet memories enjoying our food with laughter and joy. We eat nonstop teasing each other during the dim sum buffet..just look at the long table, We have so much dim sum basket there. Yummy yummy!!

Ipoh Chicken Rice 1977 @ Mid Valley

Tuesday, February 24, 2015 0 Comments A+ a-

I never try out this restaurant called Ipoh Chicken Rice before in any other branch. I was thinking where we shall dine in inside Mid Valley..Getting bored and seeking for restaurant to visit this weekend. We are at level 3 and I was wondering is this chicken rice really that good as what has been reviewed in the website? I shall give it a try since my girl loves the chicken rice and the BBQ meat.

We are asked to go up the staircase as no more seats available. They have bigger space and the open concept kitchen is there. Most of the workers are foreigners, having the usual communications problem with them. Frustrating as always be. We look through the menu and it was too expensive. All menu is ala carte, So I ask the staff if they have any lunch set? He took another set lunch menu for us and I choose this roasted chicken rice set. Add on with a bowl of pork fishball.

The service is just average and the dining environment is not pleasant. The floor is not clean and the staff is not alert at all. Here comes the food..DISAPPOINTING!

The fishball soup is obviously full of MSG..just look at the soup texture..salty and Ajimoto taste. I dare not giving this to my girl. The fishball is somehow still fresh.

I was in shocked when I saw this chicken rice!!! The chicken meat is totally in a mess!..Here and there, the bento set is terrible.  The soy sauce is too salty. The chicken meat is dry and not fresh.

Will never ever coming back here for my lunch or dinner.."Banned this restaurant"

Restoran Siu Siu @ Seputeh

We came here for the first time during the Chinese New Year celebration for our dinner. I have tried another Siu Siu branch in Sungai Besi and the food quality is good. My sister has make early booking for 10 persons. We reached early and managed to find the parking just opposite the restaurant, The Chinese uncle is very friendly telling us they have more parking space available now and he is there to look after the parking place. We are cravings for the crabs and their famous mantou.

Smooth and silky homemade taufu

Restoran Siu Siu well known for their 'Cha Siew' and mostly every customers ordered this. The meat is succulent and tender. Warn you first, You need to come early to have a plate of Cha Siew. and Trust Me, this is the best BBQ Pork you can ever find.

Flavourful pork ribs

Salted Egg crabs - One of their signature. The crab sizes is so impressive. The price for the standard size crabs are from RM 62 onwards. We enjoy the fresh crabs and the sweet flesh of the crab gets an extra boost of flavour from the salted egg..

My favourite Spice - Kam Heong Crab. Aromatic and flavourful crabs. Simply irresistible!

Heavenly Curry fish head

Deep fried mantou - just enjoy it with the crab gravy

Love the food here..especially the crabs!!!

Jin Xuan Hong Kong Dim Sum @ Damansara Jaya

Saturday, February 21, 2015 0 Comments A+ a-

Mum in law suggested Jin Xuan Dim Sum for our lunch and we tag along our aunt to dine in together. We reached at 1pm and we are lucky enough to have the parking just in front of the restaurant. Jin Xuan Hong Kong Dim Sum is located at Damansara Jaya, as usual parking is always the hectic part. The staff is fast, quick and efficient. They will tick your order and serve it quickly. This bacon is delicious and juicy while my hubby enjoy the fried yam puff

The staff will come and serve the fried item - Yong tau foo, fried prawn roll, egg tarts, bacon and etc. All made fresh and served warm.

Fried radish cake taste good

Siew mai

Dim sum varieties - The braised chicken feet texture is hard and dry

Golden bun - Soft and fresh, but the salted egg is not flowing out when I have my first bite. I still prefer the Opium Restaurant version.

Smooth Cha Siew Cheong Fun
I will just rate this dim sum place as average 7/10, not that as good as I have heard off. The place is very crowded and the space between the seats are so near. Air conditioning is quite bad as well. Expect to wait for the available seats during weekends. Total Damage RM 99.

Restaurant Makanan Lau Heong @ Bandar Baru Sentul

Friday, February 20, 2015 0 Comments A+ a-

We went to Lau Heong which is just 5 minutes walk from my mum house. Located inside Bandar Baru Sentul, this restaurant is our usual spot for dinner and lunch. You can make early reservation to avoid disappointment. We came here for the Chinese New Year dinner and ordered the Yee Sang. The yee sang is average. I find it too sourish and not crispy enough.

My favourite Thai Style Squid in banana leaf . It has the unique flavour and sizzling all the way when it was served. The grilled squids is fresh and layered with the special Thai sauce,

One of their signature dishes. You can choose to order the curry head fish / curry fish meat. I will prefer the fish meat. The curry is packed with the aromatic flavor of santan and the broth is thick. Perfect combo with the rice and spike up my appetite!

A hot plate taufu is suitable for the kids. The taufu is fresh and very smooth. Portion is reasonably fit for three person servings.

Mix vegetables

My favourite Nam Yu fried chicken .Extremely crispy and the chicken meat is superb juicy.

Double cakes specially for mum birthday..the kids get so excited instead.

Always the best place to have a simple, delicious, quick and affordable meal here in my housing area.

Uncle Ben @ Low Yat Plaza KL

Tuesday, February 03, 2015 0 Comments A+ a-

Uncle Ben is located at the Lower Ground floor in Low Yat Plaza offering local cuisines that is affordable for lunch crowd. Price starts from RM 9 and the rice / noodle comes together with a drinks. Previously, hubby tried this place and he waited for one hour for his order. So he totally "banned" this place. I still giving second chance to try out their menu and luckily my food was served in less than 10 minutes. The quality of the food drops compared to my first visit here last year. The rice set is simple with chicken / pork/ fish meat served with vegetables, minced pork meat and rice. The portion is extremely huge especially the rice portion. The butter chicken rice is quite tasty.

I prefer this fish with sliced ginger. Aromatic and flavoursome.

Yin Yong Noodle - The portion is generous, but the broth is too watery and tasteless. My friend is quite disappointing for this dish..She regretted ordered this.

Salted fish with pork rice set. Some commented it is too salty. Another drawback is on the complimentary drinks. We have the chrysanthemum drinks, terribly sweet!! I will rather bring my own drinking water.

Anyway, if you are looking for a quick and simple lunch, you may check out this place.
