It was a great moment to join the 6 course media dinner featuring the best of New Zealand's meat, seafood and wines @Gobo Upstairs a place with nice ambience and relaxing atmosphere.
New Zealand Week is happening for the whole week (7 to 12 November 2016) and you get to experience a taste of New Zealand Unlimited with Chef Mat Cook. We can savour chef's carefully-pieced menu for the wine dinner.

Our mouth watering 6 course New Zealand Wine Dinner

Best six selection of wine for tonight

Woven Stone Pinot Gris 2012
Summer peaches and ripe apricots with a touch of Turkish delight. A soft palate with gentle acidity, flavours of rock melon and peach and a hint of honey.

The first wine really smooth which is my favourite too.

We begin our first starter with Handmade Lite Rye Bread. The bread texture is Light and soft inside.Spread the bread with green lipped mussel and miso butter or cauliflower almond puree.

We start our Appetizer with stunning Cured NZ King Salmon. I love the combination at the side with avocado buttermilk, cucumber,pomelo and shaved fennel.
Pair it with Wooing Tree Chardonnay 2012 
Entree begin with Roasted Venison -served with red cabbage, turnips smoked chestnut and cocoa nib jus. 
Perfectly cooked meat that matching with a glass of Waimea Estate Trev's Red 2013.

This wine has layers and interest we attribute to the co-fermentation of these three varieties. The Cabernet Franc, Syrah, and Viognier combination has aromas of violets, black doris plums and a hint of white pepper attributed to the Syrah.

Next, we move on to the Mains -Pure South Lamb Loin 

Confit shoulder,cracked wheat, eggplant. saffron yogurt. peas & pine nuts. The meat was tender and flavourful. I am feeling extremely satisfied pairing it with Tankersley Estate Pinot Noir 2013
The wine was mellowed for 18 months in French oak. It shows the typical Otago characters of cherry, chocolate and spice. It is long, fine and velvety, and whilst great drinking on release, it will develop extra complexity with a few years in the bottle.

Cheese Platter - Kapiti Cheese
A good combination of baguette, rose pear, earl grey tea and fig jam altogether. Pleasant taste with a great source of calcium from the cheese. 

Serving of next wine - Wooing Tree Tickled Pink 2012
Sweet taste from the wine along with the strong taste from the cheese makes them pair wonderfully together. 
It has attractive aromas of peaches, raspberry and rhubarb crumble on the nose. Intense flavours of peaches and hints of oranges and toffee apples show on the palate, with a great body and lingering finish.
I have been waiting for the desserts - Whittaker's Chocolate Cremeux
Served with coffee sponge/passionfruit melting moment /hokey pokey ice cream. Rich chocolate taste with smooth texture of the ice cream. 
Pair this sinfully sweet desserts with Vinoptima Gewurziraminer 2008
Simply irresistible!

Diners can choose from 2-course at RM145 nett, 3-course at RM175 nett or 4-course at RM198 nett.





You can also opt for set lunch menu price for 2 course meal RM 59 nett and 3 course meal at RM 69 nett.
Wonderful wine pairing nite with great music rhythm from the live band and opportunity to meet up with wine lovers.  A night of wine tasting paired with a delicious food spread. Moreover, I get a good wine advise and also how to enjoy them in a different way.
