Yeah..the next destination we are going to stay at The Wembley Penang, just 5 minutes drive from Cititel Penang. This hotel is just opened for 2 years and pretty new. 
The Wembley – A St Giles Hotel, Penang, also a four-star hotel offers 415 comfortable guestrooms inclusive of Suites and Executive Rooms are exquisitely designed with batik-style motif, complement with luxurious amenities and complimentary WiFi access. Wembley Café (Level 2) offers a wide selection of mouth-watering food featuring local favourites, Asian and Western cuisine, buffet breakfast and rotational theme buffet dinners in a relaxing, contemporary ambience. 24 hours cuisine-on-call.

During night time, we try the ala carte menu. We ordered Wan Tan Noodle (both soup and dry version). My kids finished up all the noodle. Yummy..Springy and bouncy noodle served with charitable amount of chicken meat and shrimp dumpling.

On the next day, we have our morning breakfast with many local food offerings - such as my favourite nasi lemak, noodle, local kuih muih, desserts, cereals, baked beans, lamb, chicken, popiah roll, Japanese section with cold soba noodles, bread and pastries. Spoilt for choice with this exquisite spread of local and international delights all day long.
Relaxing cafe to have our wonderful breakfast. The have egg station whereby we can order our favourite eggs - you want it to be sunny side up, scrambled eggs, half boiled eggs, poached eggs, hard boiled eggs or omelette. Just named it!

So go ahead and rent-a-bike from the nearby LinkBike - Bike Share System located just a mere five-minute walk from Cititel Penang, The Wembley, Penang and Cititel Express, Penang, grab a map and away you go to explore historical Penang!

For the ardent shopper, bargains galore await at the many bazaars, shops, departmental stores and shopping malls, namely Komtar, 1st Avenue Mall and Prangin Mall which are located right opposite of The Wembley hotels and are about 100m walk away, or Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon along the renowned Gurney Drive – a 10-minute drive away.

Cititel Penang - My kids First Visit to Penang

Penang! Here we come....

This was the most exciting school holiday moments bringing my kids on a road trip of 4 hours journey to Penang. Hubby agreed to drive and more easier for us to get around Penang city. The kids get to explore and sightseeing along the way. 





The four-star Cititel Penang, the flagship hotel of CHM Hotels (Cititel Hotel Management), open on 18 December 1997, is centrally located within Upper Penang Road, a vibrant entertainment and dining enclave right in the heart of UNESCO-listed George Town, Penang.  Standing a magnificent 16-storey tall, it commands a view of the city, the north and south sea channels including the iconic Penang Bridge.  Offering 451 comfortable and well-appointed guest rooms of various categories, guests will appreciate its strategic location of being within easy access to the commercial and government establishments, favourite historical and cultural sites, key shopping malls and other tourist destinations.
Friendly staff welcoming us during the check in. You can request for non smoking room during the stay here. I will prefer that especially travelling with kids. Parking is complimentary for hotel guest. There are many food stalls around Cititel Penang and also Happy Mart (the convenience store) within walking distance from our hotel here.

Our room are located at Level 16 with breathtaking sea views. Cozy and relaxing deluxe room just nice for our family stay for two nights.

  • Daily replenishment of bottled mineral water, Hair dryer, ironing board, iron, in-room safe, and slippers are all provided. Even though this hotel is already 20 years old, I am very impressed on the hotel room hygiene, furnishing in good condition and well maintain. The ceiling fan is quite helpful when the air conditoning is too cold and I can adjust on the temperature.

The Hotel’s function space on Level 3 has proved to be the preferred venue for many successful corporate meetings and seminars with the business community.  The Perdana Ballroom (function room area) offers a total floor space of 633sq meter which can hold up to 500 diners (banquet style) and with three demountable partitions, provides six breakout rooms to cater for space requirement of different seating capacities, ranging from 10 to 850 persons (theatre-style).  Additionally, there are three function rooms which are available on the Lobby Level for smaller meetings and events.  Tailor-made proposals to meet guests’ needs and requirements can also be arranged accordingly.  Wedding banquet celebration packages are also available.

We have our lunch and dinner at Main Street Cafe @ Cititel Penang. Fresh juice for the kids, while daddy and mummy enjoying the tea and coffee beverages


The 24-hour Main Street Café, designed in contemporary style with sleek façade and furnishings and decorated in warm, earthy tones and pastel shades, presents the perfect ambience for any event, be it a business lunch, a hi-tea, family gatherings and even corporate events. Offering a varied menu selection featuring 'Chef's Signature Dishes', international selections, local favourites, vegetarian delights, pastas, desserts and themed buffet spreads over the weekends, this restaurant in Penang remains a favourite amongst the local community. Set up with the Internet Kiosk for 24-hour access, patrons are accorded complimentary usage when dining here.
Comfortable place to dine in and they have children cutlery too. Waiting patiently for the food. The food are fresh served upon ordering. 

We ordered food from the ala carte menu : -
  1. Fish and Chips - Fried snapper fillet dipped in crisp batter and served with garden salad, french fries and tartar sauce. (Highly recommended by hubby and  my girl can finish almost half of the portion).
  2. Vegetarian fried noodles served with vegetarian chicken.
  3. Hainanese Chicken Rice (can choose either steam chicken or roasted chicken),  
  4. Wantan Noodle Soup (served with shrimp dumpling, honey barbecue chicken and chinese flower cabbage)

Must Try this local favourites - Chicken satay infused with lemongrass flavour. Tasty chicken skewers dip into the fragrant spicy peanut sauce.
On the next day, we had our breakfast at Main Street Cafe that offer mouth-watering buffet spread to kick start our beautiful morning. Kids wake up so early that I have to bring them for breakfast at 7am!

Besides that, guest also can enjoy dining at Zhonghua Gourmet Restaurant and Kirishima Japanese Restaurant (all located on the Lobby Level), Citi Lounge (on Mezzanine Level) and Platinum City KTV Lounge on Level 1. Even while eating out, Guests are spoilt for choice as many reputable eateries, local hawker stalls, open-air coffee shops, stylish cafes and pubs which are within a 5-minute walking distance from the hotel, all along Upper Penang Road - the city’s entertainment and dining hotspot!

Cititel Penang is celebrating her 20th Anniversary this year and the Hotel is offering exclusive promotions like 20% discount if you book via the hotel website, food and beverage offer of dine-in on weekend buffets at Main Street Café, with two full-paying adults and the third diner can dine at only RM20nett. There will be 100 free anniversary cupcakes to given out to in-house guests staying on the 18th of each month, whilst stocks last. Spotted one of the mural art- The Awaiting Trishaw Pedaler is a giant mural that graces the wall of a building on Penang Road. Right opposite Cititel hotel (just cross the road).
Splendid time with my kids during this school holiday and have fun exploring Penang with so much food to taste and places to visit.
